Features of the Group

• Full novel critiques only. Scene crits available in our forums. Membership is free but requires certain skills and a completed novel.

• Private Yahoo Group with controled email list

• Members (at their option) can post a writing sample, biography on this site, a site visited by many agents and publishers

• Members (at their option) can have a blog on this site at no cost. 

• Admissions by a committe of three members.

• Six to eight week "straight-through" critique sessions

• Critiques by fellow members and novelists on a chapter credit basis

• Deadlined and serious. Failure to meet deadlines is penalized by lost credits or expulsion (in other words, the group is Deadly!)

• Critique to a formal template to ensure all topics covered: characterization, plot, opening, prose, line crits, many topics

• It's hard work, but worth it, but only for those willing to work hard on exchanged critiques, straight through sessions, to deadlines

• Quality of critiques is moderated and evaluated.

It's Not For Everyone

But once you're in, you are in a close-knit and friendly group of a few dozen serious published, agented or aspiring but quality writers and critiquers. Agents and publishers take Deadly Prose Critique members "deadly seriously."

Entry Requirements

• We recommend you participate in the forums first

• Published or agented authors enter without a writing sample, provided they write a sample critique to our template

• Admissions committee of three make all decisions (two votes required for entry!)

• Unpublished must submit a chapter as well

• Serious only. You must earn crit credits per chapter to receive credits. You lose credits if you miss deadlines. Be ready, work hard, but it's well worth it.
